December Green Eggs - Habitat for Humanity and Green Building
Wednesday, December 2, 2009 7:30 - 9:00 AM
USM Abromson Center, Portland Campus
Stephen L. Bolton, Executive Director and Daniel Wallace, Construction Manager of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland
We are proud to welcome Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland to this month's Green Eggs event. Since 1985, Habitat has provided housing to over 200 people in the Portland area. They have recently taken their core mission a step further by incorporating environmentally friendly building practices into their construction processes.
Attendees will learn about Habitat for Humanity’s commitment to green building both locally & internationally, get to know the ReStore in Portland, and explore how affordable green building translates to energy savings for their homeowners. We’ll take a look at NAHB’s National Green Building Standard, a rating system utilized at the Demerest St. project directly alongside the LEED-H rating system. Our presenters will also explain ways to become involved and support Habitat’s mission here in Maine.
